The All Women Count! Program (AWC!) has been providing breast cancer screening services to age-and income-eligible women in South Dakota since 1997. The AWC! Program is housed within the SD Department of Health’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion division. The AWC! Program’s mission is to support South Dakota women in receiving life-saving breast cancer screening services at partner health facilities statewide, including follow-up on any abnormal finding to receive a cancer/no cancer diagnosis in a timely matter. The program contracts with over 200 clinics, hospitals, radiology and laboratories statewide to provide breast cancer screening services to eligible women throughout South Dakota.

“On behalf of the SD Department of Health, All Women Count! Program, I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the opportunity to be funded. Thanks to your generous funds of $10,000 in 2020, our program was able to provide 176 breast cancer screening and diagnostic services to 58 unique women in South Dakota who are aged 30-49, underinsured or uninsured and meet the income requirement of 200% federal poverty level. Our program has limited funds available to provide services to women under 50, and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the National Breast Cancer Foundation on this grant to serve this population of women in need of breast cancer screening and diagnostic services. Once again, thank you for this opportunity, and we hope to partner with you again in future years!” — Kiley Hump, Administrator of the Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion
